Hello, it's Hope! The Marketing major member of Dedicated to Dreams. I am glad you stopped by to hear about my dreams as a kid.
Now that I have introduced myself, let’s talk dreams.
When I was a kid, I had so many dreams. I wanted to be a singer, actress, and a princess. I also really wanted a treehouse, but my dad does not know how to build anything so that dream never happened. Although I am mentioning many of my childhood dreams, I want to focus not necessarily on my dreams coming true, but how the support system I had made me feel like I could accomplish anything I dreamed of.
When I was younger, I was a competitive gymnast. I would spend 12-16 hours of the week at practice, and I loved every minute of it. I would beg my parents for new leotards constantly. I kept up to date with all the Olympic gymnasts like Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, and Jordyn Wieber. I enjoyed all four gymnastic events, but my favorite was uneven bars. If there ever was an open gym practice, I would be at it. Since the topic is dreams, you might have guessed it. My dream was to go to the olympics. Yes, I know this is totally unrealistic, but little me did not know that at the time.
Although my parents and coaches knew the Olympics was probably not going to happen for me, they never let me think that it wouldn’t. They would always praise my successes and be there for me during the failures. They would remind me that if I did not give up, I could do anything I set my mind to. That encouragement and support is so important especially for a young child like I was. With their constant support, I truly throughout I would be an olympian someday.
Therefore, I want to highlight that it is not always about the dream coming true that is important. It’s the support and encouragement that truly matter. Your supporters help you to remain hopeful and not give up. We all have dreams. My dream right now is to become a cosmetologist and own my own salon someday, but I won’t be able to achieve that dream after college without the support of others.
Now let’s talk about the most important thing which is The Dream Connection. By being a part of this campaign for The Dream Connection, I am supporting a child’s dream just like my parents and coaches supported my dream. As you may know, The Dream Connection relies solely on donations to fulfill the dreams of children with illnesses or diseases. The Dream Connection and its donors help to show these children that with support and encouragement, they can reach their dreams. You can also show your support and encouragement for a child's dream by donating.
You can donate through our Indiegogo campaign “Dedicated to Dreams” and you can find it at this link: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/dedicated-to-dreams#/
